What is a tincture?
A tincture is an alcohol-based extract of a plant or herb. Most medicinal components of plants and herbs are soluble in alcohol, making this a great medium for preservation of medicinal benefits. The alcohol in a tincture makes the product shelf-stable for up to 5 years. They never really go bad, they just lose potency over time. Tinctures are a super easy way to get a full, potent dose of medicine. I’ll use a tincture over something like a tea because they are usually stronger and more potent, and because they last much longer. An elixir is a tincture made with honey for extra sweetness and the additional medicinal components of well-sourced raw honey.
Why herbs and plants as medicine?
In order to understand the benefits of working with plants to support your health, you have to think differently outside the allopathic medical model because herbs and plants work nothing like pharmaceuticals. Herbs and plants do just that- they support your health by acting on various body systems to enhance healthy physiological functioning. Plants also act on the body energetically in a more subtle way that you can tap into once you begin forming relationships with them.
Why should I purchase from you rather than a big well-known reputable brand?
There’s a special magic in handmade, homemade, small business products. I pour so much time and love into what I grow and create. Everything I own or have ever bought from a small business is so much more meaningful than something mass-produced. I also find a lot of value in knowing where my things come from and how they are made, especially what I put in and on my body.
